Cheaper than a movie

Joe and I both must have spring fever. We long to get out of Bellingham and see something new. So last (no kids) weekend we decided to go to Seattle for the day. Act like tourists (well Joe actually is one). We had no destination in mind when we left Bellingham. I decided it would be fun to show Joe the Piers on the Seattle waterfront. Over the loud speaker we hear "Evening Cruises half price!" So for 21.50 total we got to take our waterfront tour by boat!  So fun, it was even narrated so we learned a lot too. Add that to a visit to the space needle and there you have it, the tourist version of the Emerald City.
Did you know how many restaurants Lynnwood has??? We would of stayed 'cheaper than a movie' if we would not of stopped to have a delicious din din at Claim Jumper on the way home. Good thing I had a big wad of tips!

Here is my cute husband taking pictures with his cell phone... ummm, okay.

Four Things we learned...

1. When it comes to fishing, EE is seriously competitive. To the point of tears. He wanted to catch a trout so bad but despite his efforts all he caught was perch.

2. We are so thankful for such great friends to fish with. With friends, everything is more fun.

3. Free doughnuts at the fishing derby is a good thing. And yucky coffee.

4. It's always the little brothers who are not as passionate about fishing that catch big fish without a lot of patience or effort!

Ethan spends hours and hours on this lake, he usually has it all to himself. So he needed a few reminders that he does not own the waters nor the fish in them. The people behind him were a huge source of frustration. Especially little girls in dresses landing big fish. :)

Nolan, our good buddy. I don't think he got to catch a fish at all. He handled the whole deal much better than EE! :)
Bait.

This is a sight I will never take for granted... My husband there at the event helping them. I am so thankful. Five fishing derby's with 'just me' was enough!
I will end on this note: When the man cleaning the fish at the weigh in center asked Jack if he could clean his fish, he replied "No, I'm going to make it into a key chain."

Hmmmm...

It must be fishing derby eve... And I don't know why I crack myself up picturing the poor little worms crawling around with their little tiny passports!?  Canadian worms, really?
Tomorrow is the big day... Go J, J and E!

Blue Skies and Baseball

Mmmm... It's that time again. Baseball!! I love it because Ethan loves it but most of all because we love it as a family. It is so nice to spend the evenings outside enjoying each others company.  And I must admit I love watching my husband being such an amazing dad.
You are my sunshine.
EE and his friend Christian.
She is becoming quite the daddy's girl.

EE's biggest fan! I would get her pom-poms if it would not embarrass Ethan.  Hmmm... I still might.

The Jerk

When I was a little girl my mom and I loved to watch the Steve Martin movie 'The Jerk'. We loved it. So yesterday when I set up my little patio set (at the fourth house) all I could think of was Steve Martin saying "All I need is this thermos!" Well all I need is this striped patio set! Each Spring when I set it up a peace washes over me. Ahh it's all going to be okay. I can sit out here, think about God, have meals with my family, relax. So this is my little security blanket, all I need is this striped patio furniture! And the sunshine is fantastic too.
